Oh, wow. I don’t usually interfere with others’ opinions that much, but damn now this truly is something else.
Passive? Did you even play the game? Yuna was physically weak, yes, yet she was mentally stronger than many other characters in the entire series. She was prepared to die, to give her life to protect others, and was determined to defeat Sin. Even if it meant for her to die. That really requires some guts you know. Then yet she was ready to defy that fate when she learnt the truth from Yunalesca, instead of just submitting. She wasn’t weak-minded, she was making her own desicions through the game and even stood against the almighty Yevon for that. She wasn’t taking bullshit from anyone, she believed in her mission and in her friends. (They became her guardians because she trusted them and because they were her friends, not because she needed every one of them.) It was also Yuna’s story, she even made that clear to Tidus. In fact many other characters in the story were depending on her.
And manipulated by Seymor? What? Sure she first admired him just like many of people in Spira. Seymor was a master at tricking, lying and manipulating. And when she learnt the truth about Seymor, even before anyone else did, she went with him TO STOP HIM. She wasn’t going to really marry him, she just wanted to get close to him and stop him without putting her friends in danger. Even at the wedding. Sure it may have not been the most effective way, but she was at least trying, not submitting to his bullshit anymore. In fact, she was manipulating him — fooling him into thinking she was going to submit. She was fighting him from the moment she learnt what a dick he was. Seymor was just sadly one lucky dick to have the power of Yevon behind him.
And although you may think whatever you want about Yuna’s look in FFX-2, I do hope you realise you are falling into the “clothes make the character” trap. So because she has her thighs showing she should act like some “slut” instead? (Or be kicking doors in and shooting people in the face because she’s carrying guns?) She can wear whatever she wants, she can do whatever she want. And besides, the whole point of FFX-2’s story was about YUNA FINDING HER NEW GOALS. She had prepared to die, and yet she survived and had no plans for the future. What should she do next? She was in quite confused state, after events of FFX. So in FFX-2 she was finding her new purpose, her own story, while trying to find Tidus. And Britney Spears? Wut, she didn’t even sing herself except for 1000 Words and the little party on the airship.
You don’t have to like her, but please at least know what you’re talking about…
